Book Descriptions…peruse, choose and buy

Ellen Gillette’s books are inspirational in nature.

I wrote She-Bear after listening to a teaching about the Garden of Eden. The Bible says that God clothed Adam and Eve before sending them away. Where did he get the materials? That led me down a path in which the world’s first mother bear learns that she and her precious Cub have a special destiny. Not your typical children’s picture book, She-Bear in the Beautiful Garden retells the story of Eden from She-Bear’s perspective. She must trust Heartmaker even when she is suffering, even when she feels betrayed, even when her heart is breaking. https://www.amazon.com/She-Bear-Beautiful-Garden-Ellen-Gillette/dp/1639840133/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1ZIPTK0N57UAQ&keywords=she-bear+in+the+beautiful+garden&qid=1705694214&s=books&sprefix=she-bear%2Cstripbooks%2C135&sr=1-1

We expect to find comfort and instruction within church walls, but often find hurt. This book gives examples of different “baaad” sheep we may encounter and offers practical, biblical steps to forgiveness and reconciliation…or the courage to leave a toxic environment.

After writing the Emily Sharpe series, I wanted to try my hand at something a bit more “in my wheelhouse.” This standalone inspirational romance tells the story of Veronica, a newly divorced and badly betrayed teacher. When she befriends an interim priest from India, she finds herself growing closer to him as they help one another with several families in the parish. Concerned she will never find the abiding love she yearns from in a relationship, she keeps hearing God ask, “Do you trust me?” A story of second chances, forgiveness and faith. https://www.amazon.com/Such-Time-Ellen-Gillette/dp/1639840125/ref=sr_1_1?crid=16U0R23P9Y3SN&keywords=for+such+a+time+gillette&qid=1705695540&s=books&sprefix=for+such+a+time%2Cstripbooks%2C173&sr=1-1
The four Calvert sisters – Darcy, Ruby, Grace and Kendra – move to rural North Carolina with their widowed father , discover a mystery, wrestle with their faith, and find new friends and loves. A cliffhanger ending resolves itself in Book 2. https://www.amazon.com/Love-Yona-Valley-Book/dp/1639841997/ref=sr_1_1?crid=6SNK16PXSOH&keywords=love+in+yona+valley&qid=1705696172&sprefix=love+in+yona+valley%2Caps%2C149&sr=8-1
The story of the Calvert family and their new friends continues in Book 2. Suitable for readers of all ages teen and up. amazon.com/Joy-Yona-Valley/dp/1639842799/ref=pd_sim_d_sccl_2_1/131-6182508-4439717?pd_rd_w=nOey2&content-id=amzn1.sym.1cc0fdf4-3e04-416c-b652-2d2ef8929f1d&pf_rd_p=1cc0fdf4-3e04-416c-b652-2d2ef8929f1d&pf_rd_r=NWRAZDYX918C6YGZS77F&pd_rd_wg=Ot4fR&pd_rd_r=1cd0e7af-dde1-4dce-8e76-ee530122986e&pd_rd_i=1639842799&psc=1
The series concludes…for now, anyway!…with serious, even criminal, issues in play. Relationships face challenges as the Calverts and their friends discover they can trust God to show them the way instead of worrying about what is “right” and what is “wrong.” God’s ways are the best. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=peace+in+yona+valley&i=stripbooks&crid=2MH2TFP1J8U2X&sprefix=peace+in+yona+valley%2Cstripbooks%2C145&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Emily Sharpe’s books are racy romances with elements of power exchange and graphic language/sexuality.

What started as a writing group assignment became a book…and then a series. In the first book, Jessica wonders if her new boss is somehow connected to fatal arson cases, even as she is attracted to him. Her best friend Donna meets the man of her dreams…Jessica’s ex! The Dear Editor series includes some of the same characters throughout, but each can be enjoyed separately.https://www.amazon.com/Dear-Editor/dp/1645633551/ref=sr_1_4?crid=DKRY5DG4F16S&keywords=dear+editor&qid=1705694179&s=books&sprefix=deer+editor%2Cstripbooks%2C261&sr=1-4
Characters from Dear Editor return, but the emphasis in The Stonemason and the Lady switches to the relationship between Donna and Eric and their exploration of a new lifestyle. A rash of Peeping Tom incidents in the city connects itself to their upcoming marriage in surprising ways. https://www.amazon.com/Stonemason-Lady-Emily-Sharpe/dp/164563597X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1RSRG02ONHJRX&keywords=stonemason+and+the+lady+emily&qid=1705694748&s=books&sprefix=stonemason+and+the+lady+emily%2Cstripbooks%2C133&sr=1-1
Book 3 in the series is my personal favorite. Kristina has a new job in a new town. Why not remake herself entirely, helping to free her from past trauma. Now calling herself Tina, she meets some real characters in rural North Carolina. When she’s virtually kidnapped and trapped inside a cabin with a half-Cherokee during the snow of the century, will she finally open her heart again? https://www.amazon.com/Mating-Season-Emily-Sharpe/dp/1645637077/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2CP46LF0TNEDB&keywords=mating+season+emily+sharpe&qid=1705695684&sprefix=mating+season+emily+sharp%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-1
This last in the series was a lot of fun to write, and not just because a guy drives the same car a high school boyfriend drove! “Andy” is bald (in solidarity with a friend’s cancer treatments) and foul-mouthed. She’s also a talented mechanic AND artist. When Jessica (yes, from previous books) suggests the magazine feature her, Reece is assigned the story. But he’s engaged already, so there’s no chance of involvement…or is there? https://www.amazon.com/Running-Hot-Emily-Sharpe/dp/1645637565/ref=sr_1_1?crid=31O3JISDOWH36&keywords=running+hot+emily+sharpe&qid=1705695978&sprefix=running+hot+emily+sharpe%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1

Why two names? When I was in my mother’s womb, she was sure she was having twins. She decided to call “us” Ellen and Emily. Later, when I wrote my first racy romance, I decided to use a pen name. ”Emily” made her appearance. Gillette=razor=sharp…you get my drift.

Now, it makes it easy to distinguish between the more G/PG rated books (Ellen) and the R+ books (Emily) but it also shows, to me anyway, that we are all complex, multi-layered individuals.

I have published as Ellen Gillette with an indie press, Pen It Publications. Unfortunately, as of December 31, 2024, Pen It is closing its doors. It’s been a great ride, but now…who knows? I have an idea of a best-case scenario but we’ll just have to see. If you click on book titles for Amazon descriptions and there’s nothing there…that’s why. Stay tuned.
